These Tandoori Chicken Kebabs are traditionally done in a Tandoor( a cylindrical clay oven). In this recipe, we will air fry these kebabs, which will make it all the more easier and quicker to make these Chicken kebabs

Ingredients
Usually, Tandoori Chicken kebabs and a lot of other varieties like Chicken Tikka, and Tandoori Tangdi Kebab, use a similar marinade. Here is a list of ingredients we use for these Airfryer Tandoori Kebabs

- Chicken Thigh Boneless - Fresh Chicken Thigh boneless and skinless. Frozen chicken should be thawed completely before marinating. Cut into 2-inch pieces.
- Yogurt/ Hung Curd - Greek yogurt or hung curd.
- Ginger-Garlic paste - ginger garlic paste, is an important ingredient in an indian recipe. you can find it in an Indian grocery section or can be homemade.
- Ground Cumin - ground cumin or the common jeera powder
- Garam Masala - Garam masala powder. A spice blend that is usually used a lot in Indian Food.
- Tandoori Masala - Tandoori masala is a blend of spices. Easily available from an Indian grocery store or on Amazon too.
- Gram Flour - We use besan or corn starch, to bind the marinade and give a lovely texture and body to the kebab
- Salt - to taste. Use Himalayan Pink, Regular iodized or Kosher salt. whatever suits best to your diet.
- Ghee - A little ghee to mix into the marinade and a little to grease the Air fryer Basket
Substitutes, Optional, And Additional Ingredients
The above ingredients are what you will need to make Chicken tandoori Kebabs
But you can always, switch or add additional ingredients
Tandoori masala - in absence of tandoori masala, you may stick to jeera powder and garam masala only.
Chaat Powder - a little addition of chaat powder, will elevate the kebab taste
Black Salt - Some black salt in addition to the regular salt, gives a real authentic taste and gives a light punch to these kebabs.
Instructions
Here's a Step By Step Process on Making these Air Fryer Tandoori Chicken Kebabs

Step 1
In a bowl, combine Chicken pieces, add curd/yogurt, ginger garlic paste, red food coloring, red chili powder, tandoori masala, garam masala, jeera powder, salt, lime juice, and ghee

Step 2
Mix the chicken and all the ingredients of the marinade. Make sure the marinade is well coated

Step 3
To the chicken marinade, add the besan/gram flour.

Step 4
Mix Well. Marinate for a minimum of 30 mins to overnight.

Step 5
Lightly Grease the Air fryer Basket with Ghee, butter, or olive oil

Step 6
Place the Marinated chicken Tandoori Kebabs in the air fryer. Bake at 340F/180C for about 10 mins.

These are best served and eaten when fresh and warm or hot right after cooking.
So I suggest, Marinating and storing these kebabs in the freezer, so you can make them as and when needed.
Cooked kebabs stay good at room temperature around 75F/24C for a day. Any longer you will have to store them in the refrigerator.
Heat it up before eating.
Tips For the Best Tandoori Chicken Kebabs
- Use Fresh chicken always. If you want to use frozen chicken, then let it thaw completely before marinating.
- Marinate for at least 30 minutes. For the best results, I recommend marinating them overnight
- Every Air Fryer is different. So please set your timings and mode accordingly. Usually, this recipe is done in 12 minutes at about 340F
- You can also grill this on a pan, bake them or make it on an outdoor grill/bbq
- Using Gram flour in the batter, binds and keeps the marinade together, plus it also gives that restaurant-style texture to the Kebab
- You may also use skewers for making these kebabs. Just dip them in water for about 10 mins, and then thread the chicken onto the skewers and then grill or bake.
- For a smoky flavor - Once the kebabs are done, Remove them from the Airfryer and transfer them to a bowl with a lid. burn a charcoal add ghee and place it in the center of the kebabs and close the lid for about 5 to 8 mins.

Air Fryer Tandoori Chicken Kebabs
Ingredients
- 1 lb Chicken Thigh Boneless Skinless
- ¼ cup yogurt (or hung curd )
- 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste (Homemade or store bought)
- 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder (or paprika, cayenne)
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala powder
- 2 tsp Tandoori masala
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- ¼ tsp red food colouring
- 2 teaspoon lime juice
- salt to taste
- 3 tablespoon gram flour (besan or corn starch )
- 2 tbsp ghee (divided, 1 tablespoon for marination and rest for basting the grease pan)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken piecesUse Chicken Thigh boneless and Skinless. Using a Knife or meat scissors cut them into 2 inch pieces.
- Make the MarinadeIn a bowl, combine Chicken pieces, add curd/yogurt, ginger garlic paste, red food coloring, red chili powder, tandoori masala, garam masala, jeera powder, salt, lime juice, and ghee
- Marinate the Chicken Mix the chicken and all the ingredients of the marinade. Make sure the marinade is well coated.
- Marinate the Chicken To the chicken marinade, add the besan/gram flour or corn starch. Mix Well,Cover with lid, and Let the chicken marinate for a minimum of 30 mins or overnight. Note If marinating overnight - Store covered in an airtight container and let it marinate overnight in the refrigeratorAnd If Freezing the marinated chicken - Keep it in a freezer friendly box and store. TO use, Thaw in the refrigerator and then air fry
- Make the Tandoori Chicken Kebabs Lightly Grease the Air fryer Basket with Ghee, butter, or olive oilPlace the Marinated chicken Tandoori Kebabs in the air fryer. Bake at 340°F/180°C for about 10 - 12 mins. Note: Every Airfryer is different. So just check you settings in your air fryer and cook accordingly.
- Serve them hot with mint chutney and kachumber salad
